Exclusive licensee rolls out SIS across metros and regional cities to grab footfall without waiting for standalone stores.

Ace Turtle, exclusive licensee for G-Star in India, is partnering Shoppers Stop to open 24 shop-in-shops in cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Siliguri and Pune. The deal gives the denim brand instant access to department-store traffic. Standalone stores are planned later, targeting about 15 over five years.
Ace Turtle is using Shoppers Stop’s floor space to plant G-Star quickly. The 24 SIS locations cover both metros and regional markets, skipping the usual multi-year wait for own stores. Local manufacturing is also on the longer roadmap.
On the shop floor a SIS till captures walk-in traffic that a pure D2C or marketplace listing never sees. Shoppers Stop staff already trained on premium denim can push higher average selling prices without new lease negotiations for the brand.
Twenty-four shop-in-shops give G-Star mall traffic without the full store build-out cost.
Shoppers Stop strengthens its international portfolio while G-Star gains controlled distribution. Pure-play denim rivals lose shelf share inside the same malls. Landlords and mall operators see denser brand mix without extra fit-out risk.
Next season’s first standalone openings and any festive sell-through data from the 24 SIS will set the pace. Watch for local production announcements that could cut import lead times.
