Amazon will invest $3 billion in its India quick-commerce business by 2030, with $1 billion by end-2027, sources said in late September. The money expands Amazon Now dark stores from about 750 to around 1,300 by April next year and funds AI demand tools plus inventory software. Current market share sits near 6.2 percent against Blinkit-led leaders.

Amazon committed the $3 billion tranche to close the gap with Blinkit, Zepto and Instamart, focusing first on dark-store density in high-Prime pin codes and a narrow daily-essentials assortment.

Riders and dark-store pickers will see denser order batches and tighter SLA windows; a new store in a dense colony can cut average delivery from 20 minutes toward the 10-minute benchmark that already drives repeat.

$3 billion aims to turn 750 dark stores into 1,300 before next summer.

The cheque squeezes Zepto and Swiggy on capital intensity while forcing Blinkit to defend its 45-55 percent volume lead with service rather than pure discount. Flipkart Minutes, already near 1,000 stores, faces a deeper-pocketed rival.

Watch store-count disclosures by April 2027 and any festive GMV commentary; profitability metrics will matter once the 1,300-store base is live.
