India’s quick-commerce market expanded 40 percent year-on-year while the combined dark-store network of Blinkit, Instamart and Zepto grew nearly 48 percent to 5,026 locations by May 2026, an Equirus report showed.

The three platforms added aggressively over the prior year from a base of 3,405 dark stores. Growth reflects continued capital deployment into last-mile infrastructure across metros and emerging cities.

For the shop floor this means more micro-fulfilment nodes competing for the same high-street or warehouse-adjacent real estate. Riders gain denser drop clusters but face tighter SLAs; dark-store managers chase higher lines-per-hour to protect contribution.

Combined dark store networks expanded to 5,026 locations in May 2026.

Traditional kiranas lose more top-up trips while FMCG brands gain faster velocity data and promotional slots. Smaller qcom players get squeezed on both talent and prime locations.

Next watch is the festive build-up and any September-October store-count updates from the listed parents Eternal and Swiggy.
