Eternal unit accounts for 27 per cent of mapped outlets and over 34 per cent nationally, giving it the density edge that keeps riders busy and AOV rising.

CLSA’s August mapping showed Eternal’s Blinkit operating 969 dark stores across India’s top 10 quick-commerce cities, well clear of Zepto’s 828 and the rest of the field. Nationally its share exceeds 34 per cent as the overall footprint reaches 477 cities.

Bengaluru remains the fiercest battleground with 735 stores; Blinkit leads there with 180. Delhi’s 531 stores give Blinkit its widest city lead at 188. Zepto tops Hyderabad, Mumbai and Chennai.

On the shop floor the lead translates into shorter rider loops and higher orders per store, spreading rent and labour faster. That density supported Blinkit’s fifth straight quarter of adjusted EBITDA improvement earlier this year.

Dark store market share remains a critical competitive advantage in quick commerce.

Rivals must either match the network or cede high-frequency grocery and personal-care baskets. Traditional retailers lose share of the impulse trip while D2C brands gain a reliable sampling channel.

Watch the next monthly store-addition print and festive GOV commentary. Any slowdown in new-city fill rates will surface in Eternal’s quarterly metrics.
