Apparel Group joint venture plants French format in NCR as organised grocery eyes scale.

Carrefour has opened its first India hypermarket, a 50,000-sq-ft flagship at H&S Mall in Greater Noida, through a joint venture with Dubai-based Apparel Group. The launch marks the start of a planned nationwide rollout into India’s organised retail market.
The Greater Noida store opened in early September 2026 as Carrefour’s India entry vehicle with Apparel Group. It brings the French hypermarket model—wide assortment grocery, general merchandise and private label—into the NCR catchment.
A family filling a trolley with staples and non-food items at one till changes the weekly shop calculus for nearby kiranas and existing hyper formats. Dark stores and quick-commerce riders still win on speed for small baskets, but the big-box ticket and one-stop range remain hard to match.
French hypermarket titan Carrefour has officially arrived in New Delhi, joining forces with Dubai-based lifestyle powerhouse Apparel Group to open a sprawling 50,000-square-foot flagship store.
The JV helps Apparel Group diversify beyond fashion into grocery while giving Carrefour local real-estate and operating muscle. It squeezes mid-size supermarket chains in Noida and forces Reliance and DMart to watch assortment depth in the same catchment.
Watch the next city announcements and private-label penetration numbers over the festive quarter. A second store filing before year-end would confirm the pace.
