Carrefour has opened its first new-era store in Noida under a franchise with Apparel Group, a 50,000 sq ft outlet stocking about 50,000 SKUs, and plans roughly 50 stores across NCR and Uttar Pradesh over three to four years before moving to other clusters.
The Noida store soft-opened earlier and has seen stronger initial sales than expected. The partner model keeps capital light while the cluster approach aims for density before national spread.
Store managers must now prove that a full-assortment floor can still pull weekly grocery baskets when dark stores deliver in minutes. Private-label penetration and local sourcing will decide the till average.

Reliance and DMart already dominate the large-format grocery P&L; Carrefour’s entry adds another bidder for the same catchment real estate and fresh-supply contracts. Q-comm players watch the price architecture closely.
Watch the next five to ten store openings in the NCR cluster and any commentary on quick-commerce adjacency before the chain commits capital outside the North.
