Avenue Supermarts, operator of DMart, reported consolidated net profit of ₹743 crore for Q2FY27, up 8.5% year-on-year, on revenue of ₹19,644 crore that rose 17.8%. The retailer opened 15 new stores in the quarter, taking the total network to 518. Shares fell sharply after the update as brokerages flagged e-commerce pressure.

Avenue Supermarts posted an 8.5% rise in Q2FY27 net profit to ₹743 crore while revenue climbed 17.8% to ₹19,644 crore. Fifteen fresh stores took the count to 518 even as EBITDA and PAT margins narrowed on entry-level wage inflation.

Shop-floor managers now watch till tickets more closely because higher staff costs hit the everyday-low-price model that once undercut neighbourhood kiranas. A single dark-store rider delivering the same staples in under 20 minutes forces DMart to defend volume without raising MRP.

Fifteen new stores took DMart to 518 even as margins narrowed on wage costs.

The update squeezes pure-play value retailers such as V-Mart while giving quick-commerce platforms fresh ammunition on assortment depth. Nykaa and other discretionary names saw stronger relative momentum in the same quarter.
