Revenue climbs 18% but wage pressure trims margins just as festive footfall builds.

Avenue Supermarts reported consolidated net profit of ₹743 crore for the quarter ended September 2026, up 8.5% year-on-year, while revenue rose 17.8% to ₹19,644 crore. The company opened 15 new stores in the period, taking the total network to 518. EBITDA and PAT margins slipped on entry-level wage inflation.
DMart’s Q2 numbers landed on 10 October with the store count now at 518 after those 15 additions. Revenue growth held steady even as like-for-like pressures and higher staff costs showed up in the margin line.
On the shop floor this means more tills in newer catchments but tighter control on payroll per square foot. A store manager in a Tier-2 location now watches overtime more closely while still chasing the festive basket of staples and private-label groceries.
Fifteen new stores took the network to 518 even as wage costs pinched margins.
The expansion keeps pressure on local kiranas and smaller value chains that cannot match DMart’s buying power on FMCG. It also gives quick-commerce dark stores another organised competitor for the same daily-needs trip.
Watch the festive window through Diwali for same-store sales recovery and any further store openings guidance in the next filing.
