Avenue Supermarts reported consolidated net profit of ₹742.98 crore for the quarter ended September 2026, up 8.5% year-on-year, on revenue from operations of ₹19,644 crore that rose 17.8%. The retailer opened 15 new stores in Q2, taking the total to 518 as of 30 September. Two-year-and-older stores grew 9.5%.

Standalone revenue hit ₹19,206 crore, up 18.4%, with net profit at ₹804 crore. Foods still dominate at nearly 57% of H1 revenue. EBITDA margin narrowed to about 7% from 7.3% a year earlier as wage inflation lifted operating costs.

On the shop floor the pricing edge remains the draw for weekly bulk buys, yet thinner margins mean less room to absorb further cost spikes without touching MRP or private-label mix. A dark-store or kirana competing on the same basket feels the squeeze when DMart holds the line on everyday low prices.

Wage inflation at entry-level has led to a marginal increase in operating expense.

The print hurts pure value peers already seeing stock pressure and forces quick-commerce players to defend share on staples. It also keeps pressure on Reliance Retail’s grocery formats in overlapping catchments.

Watch the festive window through Diwali for same-store traction and any commentary on Q3 store additions or margin recovery in the next filing.
