Avenue Supermarts opened a new DMart store in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh, lifting the total store count to 512 as of 22 September. The company has filed multiple store-opening intimations through mid-September, keeping its cluster-based rollout on track. Focus remains everyday low price in staples, home and apparel.

The Narmadapuram outlet follows a string of September intimations on the exchange, including filings on 17, 19, 20 and 22 September. DMart’s model stays bulk procurement and high throughput rather than dark-store density. Store additions have run ahead of earlier years.

On the shop floor the new store immediately pulls footfall from nearby kiranas on rice, oil and detergent because the MRP gap is visible at the till. Private-label penetration and weekly apparel drops keep baskets large even when quick commerce skims the top-up orders.

The company's total store count now stands at 512 as of today.

Rivals such as Reliance Smart Bazaar and Vishal feel the pressure in the same catchment; their response has been more private label and selective discounting. Quick commerce players ease expansion in smaller towns where DMart’s large-format economics still win on price.

Next watch is the Q2 store-addition number and any update on the 15 percent annual growth target. Festive inventory fill rates in the new Madhya Pradesh cluster will decide whether same-store growth holds through Diwali.
