Avenue Supermarts, operator of DMart, recorded around 18% year-on-year growth in standalone sales for the September quarter, alongside peers such as V-Mart. Shares nevertheless plunged 6.7% in early October 2026 after brokerages flagged e-commerce and quick-commerce competition and rich valuations.

DMart posted roughly 18% standalone sales growth in the September quarter even as the festive season began later. V2 Retail grew over 28% and V-Mart about 18%, showing broad grocery and value retail momentum. Brokerages retained sell ratings, citing structural risk from online grocery and quick commerce.

On the shop floor a DMart checkout lane still moves high volumes of private-label staples and bulk packs. A Blinkit or Zepto rider now pulls the same household’s top-up order within minutes, shrinking the weekly big-basket trip that once filled DMart trolleys.

DMart sales rose about 18% but shares fell 6.7% on e-commerce competition fears.

This helps DMart’s scale advantage on private label while squeezing smaller kiranas on both price and convenience. Reliance Retail grocery formats and pure quick-commerce players gain share of the urgent basket; traditional wholesalers lose throughput.

Watch the next business update for like-for-like trends and any commentary on quick-commerce impact. Festive stock-up window will test whether the 18% pace survives heavier discounting online.
