Eternal on 21-22 October raised Blinkit’s end-FY27 store target to 3,500 from 3,000 after adding 308 net outlets in Q2FY27 to reach 2,751. Blinkit net order value hit ₹20,940 crore, up 79.3 per cent year-on-year, while adjusted Ebitda turned ₹184 crore positive at 0.9 per cent of NOV.

Eternal reported consolidated revenue of ₹24,138 crore, up 77.6 per cent, and net profit of ₹125 crore, up 92 per cent. Management cited better paybacks in smaller cities and steadier competition for the faster rollout, with a further 5,000-store ambition by FY28-end.

A dark-store manager in a Tier-2 city now faces higher throughput targets and tighter inventory turns to hit the 1,000-orders-a-day ramp that metros already clear. Riders and hyperlocal suppliers see volume but also pressure on margins as assortment widens beyond groceries.

Blinkit added 308 stores last quarter and now eyes 3,500 by March 2027.

Zepto and Instamart lose relative density in the same catchments; traditional kiranas lose the last-mile impulse basket. Eternal’s food-delivery margins stayed stable at 5.5 per cent of NOV, giving the group room to fund the push.

Watch the festive order spike through mid-November and the next quarterly store-add number for confirmation that smaller-city unit economics hold.
