Flipkart is rapidly closing the gap with India’s quick-commerce leaders Blinkit, Zepto and Instamart, two years after launch, even as Amazon mounts its own instant-delivery push, according to a 22 August report.

Walmart’s Flipkart has narrowed the lead held by pure-play quick-commerce players in grocery and everyday goods delivery. The platform’s Minutes service now competes directly on speed and city coverage after aggressive dark-store and inventory builds.

Shop-floor impact shows at the dark-store picker and rider level: higher order density lifts utilisation but squeezes AOV and forces tighter slot management during evening peaks. Kirana partners supplying the network face faster replenishment cycles.

Flipkart is rapidly closing the gap with those quick-commerce pioneers.

The squeeze hits smaller regional qcom hopefuls and traditional e-grocery while helping national brands that already list deep on Flipkart. Blinkit still leads on daily orders but the gap is no longer structural.

Watch the festive window through October for share shifts and any fresh dark-store count disclosures in the next quarterly filings.
