Flipkart Minutes on 11-12 September said it has expanded to nearly 1,200 micro-fulfilment centres across more than 150 cities after two years of operations, recording four-fold year-on-year growth. The platform plans 1,500 centres by December and adds about 100 a month while eyeing a path to profit.

Minutes now covers over 150 cities with tier-2 and smaller markets driving nearly 25-fold customer growth in places such as Ambala, Kanpur and Siliguri. Around 60 per cent of customers return; Gen Z base has risen five-fold and categories like men’s grooming six-fold.

Dark-store operators feel the pressure on rider utilisation and inventory turns as orders move beyond groceries into smartphones and premium skincare. A single ₹6 lakh order of five phones shows the assortment stretch that forces competitors to widen SKUs or lose basket size.

Minutes will have over 1,200 micro-fulfilment centres and plans 1,500 by year-end.

The build-out squeezes Blinkit, Zepto and Instamart on pincode coverage while helping Flipkart’s broader ecosystem pull traffic. Private-label plans in snacking and home care will further tighten margins for pure-play rivals.

Watch the December 1,500-centre target and any standalone app traction through the festive sales window for order density proof.
