Current eight stores to expand fourfold; double-digit growth target puts heat on furniture rivals and mall owners.

Ikea plans to invest ₹21,000 crore to expand from its current eight stores to 30 and grow revenue four times by 2030. The Swedish retailer targets double-digit growth and a 2027-28 profit window while shifting toward more compact city-format outlets alongside large boxes.
The commitment covers new large and small-format stores across more Indian cities. Recent leases include compact urban showrooms. The company has already moved from pure big-box to mixed formats in Delhi and other markets.
A new Ikea floor changes the furniture ticket for middle-class shoppers who previously bought piece-meal from local dealers. Warehouse-style tills and flat-pack logistics raise average basket size and force nearby home retailers to match range or price. Mall landlords gain anchor traffic but must accommodate large floor plates.
₹21,000 crore plan aims for 30 stores and fourfold revenue by 2030.
The scale-up squeezes domestic furniture chains and unorganised carpenters on design and price. It helps logistics and local sourcing partners who supply the India assortment. Quick-commerce home categories face a stronger offline alternative for bulky items.
Watch the next three to four small city store openings and any 2027 profit guidance update. Festive home upgrade demand will test whether the compact format delivers the same conversion as the big boxes.
