Nykaa Fashion expanded its Hidden Gems programme on 1 October, offering high-potential Indian apparel and lifestyle brands a zero-commission model for the first six months. Participants also receive preferential visibility, marketing support, mentorship and fast-track onboarding. The focus covers Indian wear, western wear, jewellery, bags and footwear.

The move is timed for the festive season so new labels can build inventory and acquire customers without immediate take-rate pressure. Brands redirect early spend into product and ads rather than platform fees.

On the merchant side this lowers the barrier for small designers to test Nykaa’s traffic. A single successful drop can fill dark-store or warehouse slots that would otherwise stay empty. Riders and pickers see higher SKU variety in fashion orders.

Brands joining the programme will operate on a zero-commission model for the first six months.

It squeezes other marketplaces still charging full commission on fashion and helps independent labels that previously stayed D2C-only. Flipkart’s own recent zero-commission extension on fashion raises the competitive bar.

Watch how many brands convert after the six-month window and whether festive GMV from the cohort shows up in Q3 numbers.
