Titan Company shares tumbled around 3.8 to 4 percent on 7 October 2026, emerging as a top Nifty loser after the company reported earnings that fell short of analyst estimates. The decline came as the RBI raised rates 25 basis points and shifted to calibrated tightening, weighing on consumer stocks across the board.

Asian Paints and other discretionary names also slipped. The broader market lost ground with Sensex down over 400 points amid the hawkish turn and rupee weakness.

Tanishq and Mia counters now face cautious walk-ins as higher EMIs pinch mid-ticket gold buyers. Store managers push studded and lightweight designs that keep average selling prices in check without deep discounting.

Titan’s earnings shortfall lands exactly as the RBI turns hawkish on rates.

The miss pressures other jewellery chains such as Kalyan and Malabar on valuation multiples while giving organised players a chance to gain share from unorganised goldsmiths still dealing in cash.

Monitor the full earnings breakdown and any festive collection launch timing, plus gold price movement into the Akshaya Tritiya and wedding season pipeline.
