Amazon India said its Great Indian Festival 2026 recorded more than double the orders year-on-year on the opening day of 8 October, the biggest start in the event’s history. Prime early access began 7 October; full open hit at midnight. Premium smartphones, large TVs and wearables led the surge.

Amazon reported customers from every pin code placed orders, with premium Android smartphone sales up 70 per cent and home entertainment jumping 77 times a regular day. 55-inch-and-above TVs made up 65 per cent of TV volume. MacBook Neo sold 65 times normal rates.

Shop-floor impact hits the last-mile rider and the dark store picker first. Amazon Now is promising minutes delivery on select iPhones in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad, forcing tighter inventory turns at hyper-local nodes already stretched by festive volume.

Customers ordered more than twice as many products year-on-year on the biggest-ever opening day.

The jump squeezes smaller marketplace sellers who lack Prime-level logistics while helping those with ready stock in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, half of Amazon’s two million sellers. Flipkart’s parallel Big Billion Days faces the same speed race.

Watch the first full-week numbers and any extension of minutes delivery beyond the four metros before Diwali peak. Bank offers and exchange deals will decide basket size through mid-October.
