Decathlon recorded double-digit sales growth and has set a target of ₹1,000 crore from its running sports business within four years, per the 26 September 2026 ET Retail morning newsletter. The French retailer continues expanding its India footprint in core sports categories.

The running vertical forms a focused bet inside Decathlon’s broader double-digit trajectory. The company already operates large-format stores and is layering specialised assortment and services for runners.

A store till or fitting area now moves higher volumes of shoes, apparel and accessories at full price rather than deep discount, improving category margins for the retailer while shoppers get consistent stock.

Decathlon sees double-digit sales growth and targets ₹1,000 crore running sports biz in four years.

The push helps Decathlon against fragmented multi-brand sports retailers and marketplace sellers of the same gear. It also raises the bar for private-label sportswear from Reliance and others.

Monitor store-level running category contribution in the next quarterly update and any new city openings before the winter sports window.
