Flipkart will open Big Billion Days on 9 October, one day after Amazon’s Great Indian Festival, according to announcements circulating on 22 September. The back-to-back window covers smartphones, electronics, fashion and home. Both sides are already signalling bank offers and EMI pushes rather than pure deep cuts.

Flipkart’s sale follows Amazon’s 8 October start, creating a continuous festive corridor through mid-October. Early chatter points to iPhone and large appliance deals under ₹80,000 in some configurations. Platforms are leaning on zero-cost EMI and card cashbacks as raw material costs stay elevated.

For the marketplace seller the compressed calendar means one inventory allocation decision instead of two staggered ones. A fashion brand that ships late misses both windows and ends up on Meesho or quick commerce at thinner margins.

Amazon’s sale 8 October and Flipkart’s 9 October lock the festive shopping window.

Quick commerce players Blinkit, Zepto and Instamart gain on last-minute gifting and top-ups but lose share on high-AOV electronics that still prefer the big platforms. Reliance Retail and Trent watch the same traffic for their own omni channels.

Track the opening weekend unique visitor counts and the share of tier-2/3 orders. Any GST-related price pass-through will surface in the first week GMV mix by category.
