Flipkart said its fashion seller base grew 77 per cent this year after the zero-commission move, with new listings more than doubling ahead of The Big Billion Days that opened 8 October. Homegrown brands grew 60 per cent in Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets. The sale features AI tools and expanded creator participation.

The zero-commission model plus simplified onboarding and AI catalogue tools drove the seller surge. Flipkart expects Gen Z to deliver about 40 per cent of festive traffic and around 200,000 active creators during the event. Six new mobile brands joined the assortment.

For a small apparel unit in Tiruppur or Surat the listing means immediate reach to non-metro shoppers without marketplace fee drag. The till at the brand’s own outlet still matters less than the Flipkart warehouse slot during the next ten days.

Fashion seller base grew 77 per cent and new listings more than doubled on zero commission.

The jump helps regional manufacturers and private-label suppliers while squeezing full-commission platforms and pure D2C sites that cannot match the fee holiday. Amazon sellers face parallel pressure to match selection depth.

Watch seller retention numbers after the sale ends and any extension of zero-commission beyond fashion. Festive GMV share from Tier-III will show if the model sticks.
