Flipkart Minutes said on 30 August it has expanded to more than 1,000 micro fulfilment centres across over 130 cities and 8,000 pincodes, hitting the mark within two years of its August 2024 launch. Order volumes grew fivefold over the past year, with Tier-II and Tier-III markets recording a 42-fold scale-up.

The Walmart-owned platform added the capacity while pushing into towns such as Ambala, Arrah, Bokaro, Darbhanga and Tenali. Gen Z now forms over 40 per cent of its customer base and baskets have widened beyond grocery into electronics, beauty and lifestyle.

Shop-floor impact shows up at the dark store till and on the rider route. Higher density cuts last-mile distance, lifts assortment availability and spreads fixed rent and staff costs once daily orders fill the shelves. Average order value on fruits and vegetables rose 30 per cent and repeats climbed more than 20 per cent.

Reaching 1,000 micro fulfilment centres reflects how consumer adoption of quick commerce is evolving across India.

The move squeezes pure-play rivals still burning cash on under-utilised stores and helps Flipkart’s existing marketplace sellers feed the Minutes network. It also pressures traditional kiranas in smaller towns that lack the same 10-minute promise.

Watch the run-up to Big Billion Days and the year-end target of 1,500 centres. Any slowdown in Tier-III fill rates will show first in unit economics filings.
