US luxury brand adds another India retail point as premium fashion tests southern demand ahead of wedding and festive spend.

Michael Kors launched a new store at GVK One Mall in Hyderabad this week, expanding its India retail footprint. The opening follows other premium brand additions in key southern markets and targets shoppers trading up in accessories and ready-to-wear.
The Hyderabad unit joins the brand’s existing network of mall-based stores in metros. It arrives as luxury and premium fashion continue selective expansion even while value formats race ahead on volume.
Shop-floor conversion hinges on higher average tickets and lower footfall than value stores. A single handbag or watch sale can match dozens of Zudio transactions, protecting margins for the mall operator.
Premium fashion keeps adding mall doors while value races into smaller cities.
Local premium multi-brand stores and other accessible luxury labels feel the assortment pressure. Quick-commerce and pure online lose the experiential try-on moment that still drives full-price luxury buys.
Watch further south-India openings before the main wedding season and any update on same-store growth from the brand’s India partner.
