Reliance Retail plans to open more than 1,000 stores of its value fashion brand Yousta within the next two years, according to a 14 September report citing Akhilesh Prasad, President & CEO Fashion & Lifestyle. Launched in August 2023, Yousta currently operates 55 stores across 27 cities and aims to add a few hundred within a year. The push targets the 16-25 age group and will expand beyond apparel into cosmetics and accessories.
Yousta will scale from 55 stores in 27 cities to over 1,000 in two years, opening a new unit every few days to close the gap with Zudio. Footwear and accessories are already in and cosmetics come next.
A dark-store or high-street till that once saw only Zudio tickets now faces a second low-price option aimed at the same young shopper. Inventory turns must rise or the margin on ₹400-600 garments erodes further for both chains.
Reliance plans over 1,000 Yousta stores in two years from a base of 55.
The move squeezes smaller value players and multi-brand independents while giving mall developers another anchor tenant in tier-2 and tier-3 catchments. It also sharpens competition for the same fabric and labour suppliers.
Track the festive build-up and any Reliance Retail update on actual openings versus the few-hundred-in-a-year target before the next quarterly numbers.
