Reliance Retail Ventures completed the 100 per cent acquisition of METRO Cash & Carry India for a cash consideration of ₹2,850 crore. The deal, reported on 20 September 2026, brings 31 large-format stores across 21 cities and roughly 3,500 employees into the fold.
Reliance Retail Ventures acquired the entire equity stake in METRO Cash & Carry India for ₹2,850 crore in cash. At completion the target operated 31 stores in 21 cities. The move expands Reliance’s B2B wholesale footprint and supply-chain reach.
Kirana owners who shopped Metro for bulk staples now face a single larger counterparty. Dark-store buyers and small HORECA accounts will see assortment shifts as Reliance integrates the merchant relationships and supplier contracts.
The deal brings 31 large-format stores across 21 cities for ₹2,850 crore.
The addition squeezes remaining independent cash-and-carry operators and gives Reliance denser back-end capacity against pure-play quick-commerce players. It also deepens the group’s grip on wholesale pricing for private labels.
Watch integration updates in the next quarterly filing and any festive-season volume guidance from the combined B2B network.
