Trent Ltd reported standalone revenue of ₹5,788 crore for the quarter ended 30 September, up 23 per cent year-on-year. The retailer opened 27 net stores across Zudio and Westside, taking the total network to 1,342. Zudio crossed the 1,000-store mark during the quarter, cementing its role as the growth engine.

Trent’s Q2 update showed Zudio driving the bulk of the expansion while Westside held the lifestyle end. Revenue growth came despite the festive calendar shift that pushed Navratri and Durga Puja into October this year.

On the shop floor the number matters because every new Zudio door in a tier-2 mall or high street pulls footfall that used to go to local multi-brand outlets. A store manager in Indore now faces denser competition on the same price band, forcing tighter inventory turns on basics.

Zudio crossed the 1,000-store mark during the quarter.

The move squeezes pure value peers such as V2 Retail and V-Mart that are also adding doors but posting weaker same-store numbers. It helps landlords filling vacant mall space and private-label suppliers who can scale volume quickly.

Watch the December quarter filing for same-store sales once the delayed festive demand lands, and whether Zudio’s average ticket holds above the inflation-adjusted floor.
