British coffeehouse chain Caffè Nero is entering India through a strategic partnership with Tata Group’s Trent Limited, its 12th international market. The first café is planned for Mumbai with further locations expected alongside Trent’s retail formats. The tie-up was confirmed around 2-4 November 2026.

The partnership gives Caffè Nero access to Trent’s Westside and Zudio network for potential shop-in-shop or adjacent cafés. Signature espresso and a menu with local touches will launch first in Mumbai.

A Westside floor manager gains a new dwell-time driver that keeps shoppers longer and lifts basket size on apparel tickets. Coffee counters inside or beside fashion stores convert browsing time into spend.

Caffè Nero’s first India café will open in Mumbai via Trent’s retail network.

The deal helps Trent monetise footfall beyond clothing while pressuring standalone café chains and mall F&B operators on location quality. It opens distribution for related bakery or merchandise drops.

Watch the Mumbai opening date and any disclosure on total café count or investment. Festive trial in the coming weeks will show early take rates before wider rollout.
