Amazon said products ordered in the opening of its Great Indian Festival 2026 doubled year on year, the biggest start in the event’s history. Flipkart recorded 6.3 million concurrent users in the first minute of Big Billion Days. Both platforms reported strong premium demand on 9 October updates, with Amazon premium Android smartphones up 70% and Flipkart large appliances up 30% in the first hour.

Amazon’s opening saw MacBook Neo sales at 65 times a regular day and premium wearables at 80 times usual pace. Flipkart logged tablet sales growth of 73% and beauty up 42% in the opening hour as festive discounts, exchange and financing kicked in.

Dark-store and warehouse teams face immediate volume spikes on high-ASP items; riders and packers prioritise premium smartphones and appliances over low-value replenishment. Sellers on the platforms see higher take rates but tighter delivery SLAs.

Amazon orders doubled at open while Flipkart hit 6.3 million concurrent users in a minute.

The premium tilt helps branded electronics and beauty houses while squeezing pure value D2C players that lack financing tie-ups. Quick-commerce apps feel secondary traffic loss on non-urgent categories.

Track conversion and return rates through the main festive window into Diwali, plus any marketplace exclusive drops announced mid-sale.
