Decathlon unveiled its revamped Whitefield flagship in Bengaluru as India’s largest experiential sports ecosystem, a 60,000 sq ft two-storey facility. The first floor alone houses 29,000 sq ft of air-conditioned multi-sport arenas. The original store opened in 2012 and has served over 1.1 million customers; the upgrade was announced around 30 October.

The format blends retail floor space with coaching zones, try-before-you-buy courts and circular services such as repair and second-life gear. All sports categories sit under one roof in a future-ready layout.

On the shop floor the arenas turn browsers into longer-stay customers who test shoes or rackets before buying, lifting conversion and average ticket. Staff now manage both sales and activity slots instead of pure till duty.

This 60,000 sq. ft. future-ready facility is designed to redefine how Bengaluru plays, learns, and experiences sport.

The move raises the bar for other sports and outdoor retailers and gives mall landlords a higher-engagement anchor. It also pressures pure online sports sellers who cannot offer the same try-and-play loop.

Watch footfall and sell-through data through the festive and winter sports window; any decision to replicate the experiential model in other metros will signal how far Decathlon pushes the format.
