Decathlon has opened its flagship store at Phoenix Marketcity in Mumbai, taking its India store count to 132. The two-level, 11,475 sq ft outlet stocks gear for over 60 sports and introduces a multi-ball court play area plus ₹99 personalisation for tees, caps and shoes.

The store features modern layout, self-checkout and omnichannel links, positioned as a first-of-its-kind experiential format for the city. It sits inside a mall already heavy with international and Indian fashion names.

On the floor this means longer dwell time and higher conversion on mid-ticket sports apparel and equipment. Riders and click-and-collect counters gain another dense pickup point; neighbouring smaller sports sellers lose casual browsers who now head straight to the full-range flagship.

Decathlon’s Mumbai flagship brings play area and ₹99 customisation under one roof.

Mall landlords gain a strong anchor that lifts overall sports and outdoor category footfall. Competing multi-brand sports corners and pure online players face sharper comparison on price and try-before-buy.

Watch weekend traffic numbers through the ongoing festive period and any further flagship announcements in other metros before year-end.
