Trent plans to open as many as 100 Westside stores annually, a sharp jump from the earlier 10-15 pace, backed by a board-approved ₹2,500 crore capital raise. The mid-to-premium chain currently runs roughly 300 outlets across 97 cities while Zudio sits near or past the 1,000-store mark.

Westside stores average 20,000 sq ft with 100% private labels in fashion, beauty, footwear and home. Trent’s Q1 FY27 standalone revenue rose 19% to ₹5,666 crore, with the overall network above 1,300 stores. Management is also eyeing Northeast and underserved urban catchments.

A new Westside till in a tier-1 mall immediately lifts average basket value versus a Zudio neighbourhood unit. Higher ticket sizes and lower markdown risk improve four-wall contribution even if footfall is thinner than pure value formats.

Westside moves from 10-15 stores a year to as many as 100.

The shift helps Trent defend against Reliance Yousta and Aditya Birla Style Up crowding Zudio’s tier-2/3 turf. It pressures pure department-store peers still stuck on slower store maths while giving private-label suppliers longer production runs.

Track the first 20-30 Westside openings through the festive window and any update on the ₹2,500 crore raise deployment in the next quarterly filing. Store productivity numbers will tell if premiumisation offsets value-segment saturation.
