Tata Group’s Trent said its Zudio value-fashion chain has crossed 1,000 stores, spanning over 300 cities and serving more than 100 million customers since the 2016 launch. The milestone came after steady additions, including 22 outlets in the June quarter that pushed the network past the mark. As of end-June the wider Trent fashion portfolio stood above 1,300 stores.

Zudio now operates the bulk of Trent’s large-format fashion footprint, with compact 10,000-12,000 sq ft boxes that open faster and cheaper than Westside. Capital employed per new store sits around ₹3-4 crore including inventory. More than 80 per cent of recent openings landed in Tier-II, Tier-III and peripheral markets.

On the shop floor the weekly refresh and sub-₹999 tickets keep tills moving even when urban discretionary spend softens. A typical dark-store or mall till sees higher units per transaction than mid-price peers because shoppers fill baskets without waiting for end-of-season sales.

Zudio’s 1,000-store sprint turns value fashion into the default high-street habit.

The density squeezes Max, V-Mart, Intune and Reliance’s Yousta on both rent and talent in the same catchments. It also helps Trent’s overall 19 per cent revenue rise to ₹5,666 crore in the June quarter.

Watch the festive window and any Q2 store-addition update in the next filing. Further UAE outlets and deeper micro-market fills will show if cannibalisation stays contained.
