Reliance Retail reported revenue from operations of roughly ₹80,220 crore for the September quarter, up about 6% year-on-year after adjusting for the earlier consumer brands demerger. The company opened 303 new stores, taking the total network to around 19,947. Net profit fell 24% to ₹2,611 crore amid higher costs, festive calendar shift and a one-time 7-Eleven impairment.
Consumer electronics delivered 8% like-for-like growth on mobiles and appliances. JioMart revenue jumped 42% on higher average order value and units per order. EBITDA margin stood at 7.8%, down 120 basis points on digital investments and cost absorption.
On the shop floor a new grocery or electronics door immediately lifts local catchment share and gives kirana-adjacent shoppers one more organised option within walking distance. Dark-store feed from the larger network shortens rider drops in dense pin codes.
303 new doors keep Reliance the volume benchmark even as margins digest investments.
The scale helps Reliance but intensifies pressure on regional supermarket chains and pure electronics specialists still rationalising unviable sites. Private-label and value packs gain shelf edge against branded FMCG.
Track Q3 festive sell-through once Diwali numbers land and any further dark-store additions beyond the earlier 600-plus base in the next analyst update.
