Trent Ltd reported a 25% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to ₹468 crore for the July-September quarter while revenue grew 22% to ₹5,873 crore. Zudio store count reached 999, including seven in the UAE, after 19 net additions in the quarter. Noel Tata steps down as chairman on 11 November with Bahram Vakil taking over the next day.

Standalone revenue rose 23% to ₹5,788 crore and operating EBITDA climbed 37%. Like-for-like growth across fashion stayed in the mid-single digits. The company also opened 10 Westside stores and continues to scale its Star grocery format.

On the shop floor the new Zudio units in smaller cities mean faster inventory turns on basics and ethnic wear priced for the mass market. A till operator in a Tier-3 mall now processes higher footfall on weekends without the same discounting pressure seen in metros.

Zudio’s store network expanded 23.9 per cent to 999 outlets from 806 a year earlier.

The expansion puts direct heat on other value players and private-label ranges at Lifestyle and Shoppers Stop while giving landlords in secondary cities a reliable anchor. It also helps Trent absorb inflation better than pure discretionary peers.

Watch the 11 November board transition and early festive sell-through numbers from the new Zudio cohort; any guidance on FY28 store additions will signal how far the Tier-2/3 bet runs.
